wats the best microphone for recording rap vocals for a reasonable price(like under $1000)... i heard the blue baby bottle condenser was one of the best..does anybody have any knowlege on the subject

no such answer, every mic will sound different with every perosn.
no such thing as a best mic for all rappers.

Giraffe is so right man.. If you are interested in a mic check shure KSM44.. and my personal baby the akg C414 and XLbus those are my go to mics (however akg is rather a dark sounding mic but nice rounding on the edges).. I would say go to your local music store and see if you can rent a mic or try out several mics

True True But, i would say look for a mic as general that doesnt have a real lift in the sibilant frequencies Start flat and move from that, rappers tend to pop and push their words so beware of mics that have that rise in the upper end around 1 to 3k Maybe you should try a SM7 or some kinda dynamic ment for broadcasting. A good choice might be even a old EV dynamic Mic, EV666 , 665 or even a RE-20

Budget of a grand? Why not get more than one mic? A mic will do some people well and others not...that's why studios have lots of mics. I'd try to get a range of different types, flat and colored, FET and tube...

Check this out...it's a site with a graph ploting a bunch of different 'common' mics on a scale that inludes bright to dark and transparent to colored. http://www.thelisteningsessions.com/micgraph.htm

I'd personally like to have a good mic from all four corners and then one really close to the middle, then I'd upgrade each one from the same area... But that's just my approach.
