What would be the best Mic for recording live sessions from a Fender Strat?
Thank, Windy

There's no such thing...

..as "the best mic for" such and such...

But a classic sound would be a Shure SM57 against the amp grill, slightly off-centre (or on-centre, to taste) of the cone.

Seems like the amp itself would come into play here....they all sound different......gibs

I mean, you could record a strat unplugged right?

Hey, John Christ (I think that's his name) did it on Danzig's IV CD. No amp, no nuthin, just a mic in front of his electric guitar.

It is possible....I read an article somewhere, and they reorded the bass with a direct line, a mic'd amp, and one of those clipon mics to get the string sounds...mixed the three......but Windy did say live sessions, so if shes recording in the same room with other instruments, thats out of the question....

Ive never used my ears to mic a guitar, but i will try it, Hix.....

I agree...

I agree with Blue Bear sound...SM-57 just slightly off center of the cone...pretty much a classic standard...
