Dynamic Condensor...
I would usually recommend a Condensor mic as it's much more preficient at reproducing sound accurately although most good condensors pick up everything therefore it may reproduce the sound of the room a little more than you would like. If I were you, I would spend some of it on a reasonable EV/Beyer Shure Mic and then get yourself a specific drum mic... (no recommendations although the EV 408 does me well..!). Alternatively, blow almost all of it on a decent large diapragm condensor (Rode NT2, Akg etc etc...) and buy some acoustic foam to put on the walls OR learn how to isolate yourself in a room with partitions (i've used two mattresses..), curtains and clothes. Room dampening will improve the overall quality of a room mix....
Good Luck
