another newb question...whats a good mic, for minimal bucks...multi purpose, used to mic amps or drums or vocals...i have one behringer XM2000S its not too bad, for what i use it for, but id like to make sure i get a decent bunch, i plan to use them recording. I also know that shure mics are fairly popular, im guessing this is the answer ill be getting most...I have four slots on my mixer for mics so im gonna be getting 3 more. All of your suggestions and info are greatly appreciated.

I can only recommend the ubiquitous Shure SM-57. You can definately get good results with less expensive dynamic mics but you won't outgrow 57s. You just get more, different mics. LOTS of them.

*Studio Projects B1

*CAD M37

Either can be had for around $100 or so.

3 low-end price mics?
Firstly, the SM57. Its a classic standard used for everything.
Second, a studio projects B1 or similar. Any condensor can be used at a push for drum overheads. I use my Octava Mk319. They're the same price as studio Projects B1's over here in Blighty.
And lastly, I would choose a Sennheiser e845. Very similar to an SM57 (dunno about prices in the US though), but has what I feel is a slightly warmer tone. Nicer top end too. I like the Sennheiser mics as they have a really nice sound for their price, and are a welcome change from the Shure mics for live stuff too.
There is a host of other choices that could be made, but they are my personal favourites.
