Hi!
I had a Zoom H2 for recording my band but the lowest selectable gain on it was FAR too high and I could not record my band without horrible distortion on the file. We play very very loud and I really want a mic that can record us without clipping!! With the H2, the files sounded fine but with a crackle over the top which makes me think it must be do-able to record us so loud.

Please could you recommend some portable handheld mics to use that I could record SUPER high volume stuff? Maybe one with a gain that could be adjusted very low??
Thanks!!

Consider some type of mic attinuator. What type would depend on the mic you are using.

I haven't posted enough for the forum to allow me to include a link, but do a google search for "mic" attenuators. You'll find ones similar to the ATT-448 Hosa XLR Mic Input Attenuator 3 Pad.
