So what direct box well give me the best tones in your opinion?

Im looking for Warm smooth distortiona dn great sparkling jazzy cleans

Try a Countryman D.I. box.

Hey video,
Yes you can do that. I recently completed a CD. I used the POD to record direct into my DELTA66/OMNI soundcard. When I had done all the recording, I took my equipment to a studio for mixing. The guitar tracks were routed out of my OMNI soundcard and into the studio mixer. The signal was actually fed into one of the studio amplifers. the output of that amp was MIC'd.

So Now we have 2 signals(2 tracks).
1. My direct signal going into the studio mixer
2. The same signal MICd from a different track

The MIC'd signal was overlaid over the original signal. BUt it was much less in volume than the original. The studio engineer was expereinced and he knew how much compression etc was needed. The guitars came out pretty fat.

Hope this helps.

I have had the chance to hear the new Mesa pre amp. It's not really a DI, but, in my opinion, it sounds way better than the POD. It runs about a grand, but I plan on getting one.

My fav direct setup:

Guitar directly into tube amp directly into a mic directly into a preamp directly into a DAW

I'd go with the POD. It sounds great and has a wide variety of amp models.
