This is my situation:
-I would like to upgrade from a Line 6 KB37 that I've far outgrown to a Firewire interface to use with my 2011 iMac.
-I will be using Logic 9.
-I am a one man band of sorts.. i will be recording a full kit (8 mics), guitars, bass, vocals, Rhodes, keyboard, violin.
-I don't want to spend over $1,000.
-I will be buying a used interface.
-I do not want to purchase any extra pre-amps, so the interface must have 8 pre-amps built in.
So basically with this criteria, I have narrowed down the field to the Steinberg MR816x and the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. I care primarily about a) the quality of the built-in pres and b) simplicity of Logic integration. Can anyone tip this boat in favor of one interface over the other? Or throw in any other contenders that I've skipped over?
