Sunn or Trace Elliot
I guessed I would have said that. Still think so, but would add the Behringer BX-3000T. For the price, its amazing. A piece of shit, true, but an amazing piece of shit.

I love some solid stateage. I vote Line 6, because I'm quite fond of my Spider II 150. My cab isn't much to be desired, though. But the direct-in from the Line 6 sounds fantastic.

I love my Line 6 Spider 112 to death. I use it quite extensively in studio applications. Onboard effects pretty much handle 75% of my playing style........

and this is my secret weapon. The Crate GXT 100. They didn't make these long and didn't make a lot of them. They can have some maintenance quirks if you aren't careful about maintenance but the tube pre-amp yields a sound that makes you forget a few loose nuts and bolts. This 100 watt hybrid has a tone like butter.

Crawdad is playing on a Quilter nowadays.
He's a great player and a good studio guy so i trust his ears quite a bit.
He says it sounds great.

My Roland Cube 30 is a wonderful little piece of work.

Yeah, mine's a piece of work, too. Oh, did you mean that in a good way? :)

ummm . I'm a tube guy but there have been two SS amps that I thought had a really good almost tubelike sound. One is Traynor .... can't remember the model and it's so long ago probably couldn't find one.
The other was a Dean Markley ....... really nice sounding amp.

The DM CD 60 is pretty remarkable for SS.
But the best solid state I've ever heard are the Marshall MG's heard one at GC in Durham and at first thought it was a tube...
