read my articles on pages 1 and 2 of the newbies section of the bbs. they will answer all your questions including software and recording tricks.
powertracks i use - 29 bucks from pgmusic.com.
lot of pro's use it. as ive said on many occasions here
its the pre's, sound card that give you good quality sound NOT SOFTWARE. if you dont believe me record a track through a good sound card with a 2k package then repeat with powertracks in 24 bit. tell me if you hear a difference. NOT !
pg gives you 48 digital audio tracks plus a great midi sequencer plus notation.
there are many superb cheap sequencers. just read my articles in newbies section of bbs.

manning1 would you get a life - this is getting extremely old...

to answer the original post, there are several programs:

For the PC:

Cakewalk Sonar
Steinberg Cubase/Nuendo
Vegas

For the MAC:

Cubase/Nuendo
Logic Audio

Those are just the first ones to come to mind that are somewhat industry standards (i.e. other people can read your project files should the need arise). There are pleanty more at other pricepoints.

i'm sorry you feel that way. for your info over the past few years
many newbies have thanked me because of pointing the way to powertracks. you show me another multitrack software that has
the features it has for 29 bucks and i'll bow down before you sir.
yes, there are other solutions, and yes they are excellent -
ive outlined them all in one of the articles ive written for the newbies in the newbies section. it may be old hat to yourself, but with respect a lot of newbies dont know about powertracks
and often spend amounts of money they dont need to.
brzilian i respect a lot of your posts ive read from you. please accord me the same respect in returm. there are a lot of newbies
struggling out there with a lot of questions.
i AM trying to be as unbiased as possible. for example nuendo
is a great piece of software. but there are aspects of powertracks on built in effects like some of the guitar effects that a lot of newbies are missing out on if they dont know about them and which i find excellent. powertracks is a great value imho just as an
audio editor/effects unit forgetting all the other thousands of features.
it DID win an award you know. and if you go to the user forum
at pgmusic.com you'll see i'm not some lone stupid user in the wilderness that likes it.
sorry , and i wish you nothing but a great year and happy times.
