New GC flyer has an MK-319 plus a Bellari tube pre for $149 US combined. I have an MK-319 already, wouldn't mind a second, though it might be a lot of work to find a match. But I know nothing about Bellari stuff.

Opinions, gents?

crap.

they're nicknamed "the hum injector" around here... at least, the particular model that you're speaking of is.

WATYF

Bellari is Rolls "high-end".... and if you know anything about Rolls - it's complete garbage, making the Bellari stuff "garbage repackaged in a better-looking box!"

Now... you can potentially mod the Bellari to make it usable, but I really don't see the point of that, just buy something good in the first place!

damn i was about to ask the same question.. i just got that flyer in the mail and for 150.. i was gonna say what the hell..maybe they have some other packages..
i want to get the mindprint Envoice pre... just tryin to get the money;)

If you are lucky you might get 75 on ebay for that pre. I was thinking of getting a 319 while its at 99.

The only model you should attempt it with is the RP220, and it's a little more complicated than just that. :D There's a few more things going on there than just a bad tube (there's also the transformer, the opamp, and the cap values).

Bluebear makes a good point. If you're really good with electronics and/or know someone close to you who is and they owe you a favor, then it might be worth it. Otherwise, you should probably look elsewhere.

The labor costs to have an experienced electrical engineer work on it would likely add up to more than it would be to buy a decent one in the first place.
