Here is a thing I've been working on... my friend wrote the lyrics for this...just a basic Rock tune....this is the 1st mixdown..kinda rough ...been working on it for awhile today and thought it might help to get some fresh ears /opinions...

NIce vibe to it, nice rocker. Balance is fine, everything is pretty clean. My only suggestion would be to have the lead vox sing more as compared to "talk". Its hard to make out a melody, it sounds too "Rex Harrison". :D

Nice solos, overall a very good listen.

Rex HArrison eh? Was not sure who he is so I googled him...still don't know but he looks pretty old....can't be a good thing to be compared to that :) !
Yeah, the one thing you suggest is the thing I really struggle with :o ...my singing sucks!I was kinda trying to Iggy Pop it up a bit....now that I kinda have a fell for the direction I wanna go, I think I will try and re-track the vocals and make em' a bit more melodic if I can!
Thanks for listening...I appreciate the feedback!

Cool tune variaxman. I like the writing on this, definitely has that Iggy Pop vibe to it. Guitars are nicely done, the whole thing is mixed well too - some neat effects on the leads. I can see the singer strutting his stuff on this one..... I'll keep an eye out for any updates....

Thanks... I have some ideas for the vocals that I am gonna retrack....glad you enjoyed it!

Cool tune...I'd say bring the main vocal up a bit, and make it more upfront. Compress it some more, and see what it sounds like.

Overall, cool song. I like it.

Yup, I was kinda thinking it needs that...I also don't really like the intro guitar solo thing, I think I may take that outta there...disappointed with the over all bottom end/bass as well.
Thanks for the comments, I always appreciate your feedback/ideas!!

Good rocking song.
You need to thicken the vocal a little more to get some Ig.
THere's a touch of Dead Finger Talk's Storm the Reality Studio in this song - a good thing in my book.
maybe less Rex & more Richard Harris!
Rex preceded Lou Reed in the talk/sing style but, to be honest, all Lou's albums after Berlin could be described as less sung than a Rex tune - Oh he was in My Fair Lady, Dr Doolittle etc. Would have been a dab hand at Gilbert & Sullivan patter songs I'd imagine.

Very cool and catchy song. Nice performance as well!
I don’t know about improvement. Some tweaks on vocals but you are not far away.
With a little help of mixing tricks you could sound like Mick Jager from his early performing days.
Very well!

Hi rayc!..I recorded the lead vox on 2 tracks simultaneously and panned them hard left and hard right ...nudging 1 a little outta sync with the other...I think it doesnt really work here and they are kinda thin because of that...gonna address it in my next mix!
Thanks for the listen!

Cool song. Definitely has an Iggy feel to it. I like it a lot. :)

I'm just listening on headphones, but the drums sound pretty buried. I can't hardly hear the kick at all. The whole mix seems kind of subdued. I think the guitars sound fantastic and the vocals are really good. I'd just like the whole mix to sizzle more and the drums to pound my head in. Overall its a cool song and played well. Good job. :)
