Shit Robbie, that kicks ass. You nailed it. The vocals are spot on. You got the Steven Stills sound goin' on. It's uncanny. Some friends and I coverd Wooden Ships not too long ago.

I can't focus on the vocals because of the instrumentation. The percussion is incredibly busy and seems to wander all over. For a while the hats were up the middle, but there seemed to be a rimshot on the far left, then an entire drum kit on the far left, that seemed to move back and forth in the mix as the song progressed - almost like you were fading a verb in and out. Don't know how to better describe it. Seems like there was a hammond with a leslie, but it was incredibly wide and flowing back and forth and kind of made me dizzy. The guitars and bass seemed well played but I kept getting distracted. Honestly - I wanted to hear the vocals cause it seemed there was cool stuff going on, but I just couldn't focus with the other instruments flying all over.

Just finished a cover of an old CSN classic. And being a solo artist, I have to sing the lead, and all of the harmonies.

I think it came out pretty good? :-)

What do you think?

It's at the top, called "49" (currently remixed twice, but I'm sure I'll tweak it again)

The vocals were "very" challenging...

ps- trackrat says you nailed it, and as I haven't heard the original more than twice in the past 20 years - maybe this is how it's supposed to sound.....

Ha!

I'm pretty retarded when it comes to the mix? I know this about me... :-( Sometimes I get a good one? But it's because I swerve around and do different things? So occassionally a good mix will occur? But it's the exception, and not the rule...

I did nail the vocal :-) I am a singer, and these guys were a big influence on me. I love their stuff. This project was challenging because it's not in 4/4 time? (which my stuff is) and there were tempo maps involved... The friggen tempo "floats" from like 120 to 114? It was a pig. But I "really really" enjoyed doing it.

Thanks so much for listening and for commenting? I really appreciate it! It's my passion... I don't make any money at it, but I spend a lot on the gear and plugs :-) We all need something to keep us off the streets and away from the Columbian "ladies?" At least I'm off the streets ;-)

And yes, I gave my drummer speed in his coffee? Unfortunatelly, "I am the drummer?" LOL! hahahaha, I worked that freaking drum track for 2 weeks! And yes, it is busy? :-D That drummer needs to be Tasered! LOL! I love the fact that the drums are "out of control!" I listened to the original? And I'm pretty sure that guy was tripping.

Got remix 3 up based on some feedback, I'm not the engineer guy? But I know people who are... It's sounding much better IMO :-)
