Hey All,

First time caller. I have a Xenyx 1204FX which has been working fine for several years. We've had some wicked thunderstorms over the last few days. I usually power off and unplug audio gear when a front moves in as a precaution.

This evening I sat down to play and found no level (meters register nothing) on the main or alt3-4 busses and no audio through the control room outputs or headphone jack. There is audio when solo is engaged, both main solo and PFL, on any channel. I do get a second or two of audio through the control room outputs when powering up but nothing thereafter.

There is output on the alt3-4, I'm getting a level in my DAW.

Simple set up, condenser on ch 1, DI on 4, VDrums on 5/6, and analog out from a USB interface on 7/8. Alt3-4 is connected to the USB interface inputs. Control room outs connected to a Behringer 4ch headphone amp.

I've run through basic troubleshooting, power off/on, toggle phantom, toggle and tinker with FX, disconnect/reconnect cables and check the sources - everything's cool unless I'm missing something embarassingly obvious.

Seems unlikely but a surge may have nuked the monitoring section...?

Suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

Yes do try the switch but I hold out little hope.

All the monitoring comes thru one pair of op amps, probably one IC and is common to ctrl room out and headphones(B silly idea to boot!) . I suspect that chip has popped and is probably a surface mount version of a TL072, VERY hard to fix unless you have the experience and will probably cost a bit to get done.

I had one fail in the input circuit of my Berry BCA2000 and replaced it with a standard DIL NE5532 on a postage stamp sized piece of stripboard. Then the other channel went 3 months later and I COULD not be arsed!

In the loft now.

Dave.

Thanks for the input guys. I just ran the demo on the VDrums and the Xenyx is working fine. No changes other than turning up the fader on ch 5/6 and disabling solo on that channel. It just occurred to me the green PFL LED (or main solo depending on mode) was on steady yesterday whether a channel was in solo or not. Today it's behaving normally, off when channels aren't solo'd.

Could certainly be a bad connection somewhere. I'll give DeOxit a shot, thanks for the suggestion.

All good for now, thanks again.

Cheers
Lee
