Sorry... Hank Marvin should be confided to the dustbin of history and not spoken of any more...

You might want to try the guitar forum...

Yo George! Welcome to the board! Well first, use a Strat (Duh). Use the VAMP 2's Brit Class A simulation (modeled after Vox AC30) and try also Brit Class A 15 W (modeled after Vox AC15). Hank used both VOX models. Then echo or delay. Hank used a Binson Echorec early on, then a Roland 301 Space Echo, then in later years, a Behringer Delay. I'm guessing the VAMP should do a Behringer Delay pretty well, for some reason. Then start playing with the settings on the guitar with the EQ on the VAMP set flat. Most guitarists get their tone more from the guitar or pedals than the amp, because they can change faster on stage. Then adjust the speed of the echo to match whatever sound you're trying to get. If all that fails, do a search on Charlie Hall. He's already worked it out, and markets authorized emulations to duplicate Hank's different sounds over the years. Good luck from an old guy with a VAMP.-Richie

Perhaps I've made an error of judgement in expressing my opinion of the worthiness of Hank Marvin in the scheme of things, but you're made an error of manners in your reply... You'll note I didn't call you names, however, and I did give you some advice - "try the guitar forum..."

I'm a prat?

You're the person trying to copy someone else's sound using an el-cheapo multi-effect unit, and who apparently can't google "Hank Marvin" and find out exactly what gear he used (it's even on Wikipedia - heard of that?) and translate that into what might be appropriate on your little plastic box and are looking to be told the exact settings... and haven't deigned to mention a couple of other important things, like what guitar you're using, and what amp you're using.

It's not me that's the idiot, my friend.

PS. Welcome to HR! It gets robust in here sometimes, but we're a good-hearted bunch in the main and usually helpfui. What have you done lately?

Keep smiling chuckles... :laughings:

Firstly the el-cheapo unit you speak of is all i can afford secondly i am not your friend. As for richie monroe thanks mate thats all the advice i needed not silly remarks.
