Behringer Ultra-G GI100 - for live amp-less clean guitar?

hey, all, long time no see.

i already ordered the unit, it's cheap enough, no biggie. I read a lot of newer reviews and thought perhaps quality's been improving ;)

I already have the gdi21 (sansamp gt2 clone) but was missing a clean/crunch footswitchable flexibility.

I am thinking of running the DI+cabsim as my clean and running the gdi21 into it for drive.

the setting is NOT recording, but live "hobby" basement jams with drums/bass.

les paul-type guitar with nice pickups.

so what i'm asking is your experiences if you tried similar setup?

Speaking as a person that owns an Ultra-G and a GDI-21 I don't see the point. The GDI-21 has a switch to turn it on and off. I assume that you run direct into a mixer with the XLR. So turn the pedal off, adjust the clean volume on the mixer channel, turn the pedal on and match the volume. Now you have a clean and a distortion channel. The other way would be to set the GDI-21 for a clean amp tone and run a distortion pedal into it. So there really is no reason to use an Ultra-G.

nah, the "clean" i'm talkin' about is a fat fendery "tubey" type clean, like the clean you get on the fender channel of the gdi21.

i do have a distortion pedal (danelectro fab dist) but that distortion is no match for some of the gdi21's crunch sounds.

maybe i shoulda ordered me another gdi21?

well, i'll have to try.
