Ugh, I've grown immensely frustrated and have all but given up, and so i turn to you guys for some help.

I recently bought a u-control, it worked fine with one computer running xp, so i put it away and didnt think about it for awhile. A week ago i buy a new laptop running win7 and everything is all bad. I plug it in and before i even install the behringer drivers, the plug and play drivers cause it to start popping and crackling through the headphones and outputs. Installed the drivers, no change. Installed asio4all, no change. Tweeked various settings, no change. The distortion and crackling come through even without production software running - just listening to media player or windows sounds or whatever. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same result.

Any ideas?

Since Vista, I've found basic Windows audio setup to be much less intuitive.

Are you sure the ASIO drivers are being allocated, even if installed on the PC? Does 'Sound' in the Control Panel give you any options, and are appropriate latency settings in place?

Have you loaded up production software and selected the correct drivers within the software?

I think the main Behringer driver requires a specific hardware USB port too - you always need to plug into the same port.

Good luck...

Yes, both Behringer specific and 3rd party asio drivers fully installed and selected within the programs, as well as WDM. Also uninstalled and reinstalled for all those options. I am also aware of the USB port issue - i also switched ports on the reinstall. All latency settings have been tried in asio and wdm as well, on reasonable and ridiculous settings. Same issues. I am usually pretty good with this stuff, which is what has got me so angry.

Is turning off/removing the plug and play "usb audio device" driver a viable attempt at fixing? I'll probably try it anyways lol...yeah, I'm really tearing my hair out on this crap.

....There's your problem right there isnt it ? Dont most if not all USB devices tell you to install drivers before you connect the unit ?

Tried a complete uninstall ?

3rd complete uninstall - this time preventing the plug and play WDM drivers. Still a no go.

Behringer UCA222 problem

Hi, I wonder if you have found the solution for your problem. I just bought a UCA222, have noticed the same clicking noise from the audio output (not crackling, just occasionally small clicks. I can hear them from the speaker and headphone, giving me headache. I have downloaded the current driver from Behringer and updated it, made sure Win7 is using the new driver, seems the same.

think I found the solution

Yes, i think I found the solution. I plug the thing to a USB port on the mother board, whereas previously I plugged that to a USB port on a PCI extension card. I am now listening to it for 20 minutes, not a single click or crackling noise (previously i could here clicks every 15 seconds). Apparently it is a bandwidth and other hardware issues. I found out about this solution from another forum. The sound is great, clearer than the Xfi extreme music I have, which I am very happy with already. Hope it stays that way. I'll update if the problem recurred.

He did? Yes, i think I found the solution. I plug the thing to a USB port on the mother board, whereas previously I plugged that to a USB port on a PCI extension card.

Use a USB port that is directly connected to the mother board.
