Hello,

I've finally come 'round to try and upgrade the bahri I bougt a couple of weeks ago. the new line sees to be quite adequate in noise levels, especially when compared to the older MX ones (tried both with headphones and no source).

The mic pre-amps aren't regular 4580 opamps as I'd have expected, they consist of an actual behri designed (I do have heard it would be a carbon copy of the mackie mic pre's tho) transistor based amplifier...

anyway, I tried to switch the original 4580 opamp for mic channel 1 with a BB2604 (which was more or less advised in another forum I lost track of) but for some reason, the bb produces 3db more noise than the 4580 original (at CH2) :(
gain is somewhat higher as well tho, and it does seem to give more overhead, although I'm not keen of ear enough to be conclusive about this... could it be the cap's are incompatible with the new opamp?

setting the gain a bit lower does reduce noise to about the same level as with the 4580, the same goes for the signal, so there is no actual improvement... save for the added overhead, altho i might just WANT to hear that :)

anyone else tried to upgrade cheap mixers before?
