Hey,
Im only new on here and i need some advice, i have a Behringer F-control Audio interface and a Behringer Ub1832fx mixer. im not sure if its the way ive set my gear up or what but when ever i hit record in Cubase i get a real annoying buzz when i play it back in the recording.

i have the two out puts on the mixer gonig into the inputs on the F-control. is this the correct way? (any sugguestions on how to set these up?)
When i plugged a mic straight into the f-control i got no noise or annoying buzz? it is frustrating haha

Any help would be much needed. :)

I have the same card and have had no problems . Are you getting any thing besides the buzzing when your record ?? You may need to try and pinpoint were the problem is .
Try setting the F control as your default recording device in the media section of the control panel on your pc and try a recording using the windows sound recorder to see if the problem is maybe a set up issue in Cubase . If you can record with the windows recorder you need to dig into the setup section of Cubase . If that is the problem I have a copy of that I can load up and take a look at for you and see what I need to do to get my F Control working with that program .

BTY , did you try recording with that little program that came with the F audio , Krystal ? . See if that works .

I get buzzing in my setup due to Cable TV being not grounded.
My home studio / PC setup + mixer output to my stereo, which is connected to the VCR's/DVD/TV. Big Pain to connect / re-connect
When I unplug the cable from my VCR is goes away. OR disconnect the RCA audio cables from my mixer to the receiver.

thanks guys. i'll what you have sugguested and let you guys know if everything turns out.

ok ive got the sub out puts from the mixer leading into the two in's on the f-control and the 2 outs from the f control running into into the L/R of channel 13/14 on the mixer. when recording in Cubase i need to record mono tracks is that correct? im still getting a little bit of a hiss, any other sugguestions on how to get rid of that?

How about if you don't use the line outs from the F Control to your mixer while your recording. Can you try using the headphone jack instead and see if you still get noise . I've seen programs that have issues like that if you monitor with the same card while recording . It can cause a ground loop also . I don't pretend to understand all that but yiu just have to keep trying different methods to try and isolate the offending party .
Like tom18222 suggests , it could be a bad cable . The line in's on the F Control should be unbalanced ( mono TS plugs ) and the line outs can be balanced (stereo TRS plugs ) or unbalanced .

do you think maybe if the F control unit is to close to the computer i could be picking up a hiss sound from th laptop? any one who uses a f-control with a mixer can you please take photos of your set up and post them so i can see how you guys do it. please

My digital doesn't play nice indoors !!! :(

One thing I did do was replace the 30 inch firewire cable that came with it with a 5 meter cable I got from L COM so I could reach some 25 foot mono cables I have coming out of my mixer .

I have 4 interfaces right now . A Tascam us -122(USB) , the Behringer F audio (firewire) , a 2 pci cards . Creative SB Audigy2 ZS and an old Philips card I took from an old pc .

Set up .

From a Mackie 1604 vlz .

a) direct outs on 2 channels ( snare and bass drum) with 40 foot TRS balanced cables to the line in's on the Tascam USB card ( 2 mono or a stereo track )

b) From the mains I have 2 - 25 foot TS unbalanced cables to the line in's on the Berhenger F audio card . ( 2 mono or a stereo track )

c) from subs 1 and 2 I have a Y cable ( 2 mono males to a stereo female )
connecting to a 40 foot TRS balanced cable which terminates to a 1/4 to 1/8 inch adapter which plugs into the line in on the SB card and allows recording either a stereo track or a left and right mono . I use this one to record left and right room mic's ( mono tracks)

D) subs 3 and 4 are sent the same way going to the Philip's card which is of pretty poor quality . I use it to add effects to the top and bottom snare tracks and blend it into the mix . Other wise it's just about useless !! :(

For playback I run a line out from the pc ( sound blaster card ) to a stereo amp . From an Aux out I run RCA cables to the TAPE IN on the Mackie and I can mix that in with main mix . ( you can run direct to the mixer from the pc but I use this setup so I can use the amp to power speakers for mixing or just playing music on the pc . ) You can use an AB switch to route your sound to your mixer or pc speakers/stereo system so you don't have to keep plugging and unplugging stuff in the back of your pc .

I use to use the Direct Monitoring on the Tascam US-122 but it starting developing intermiten pops and cracks on playback that will completely mess up your timing !!!! It still records with no problems so I deal with it till I can finally swing getting a Mackie 400F.

For now this is what I have and it works pretty good . I'm getting 4 real good tracks , 2 fair tracks from the SB card and a couple effects tracks from the Philips . I plan to replace the pci cards with a Delta 66 which will leave me with 14 tracks when I ever get the Mackie 400F or simular .

14 mic's to > Mackie 1604 vlz mixer >2 pci , 1 USB , 1 firewire card >Dell 4700 , 3.4 P4 , 1 gig ram , 160 gig hhd . > Adobe Audition 1.5 DAW.

I have a similar setup - Yamaha MG16/4 into Behringer FCA202. the L & R outs of the mixer into the interface, which is sitting RIGHT on top of my tower. Wont work in cubase- i put that down to my lack of knowlege of cubase. Using Ableton Live no problems.
What it could be- is your FireWire ports on the motherboard. Some aren't shielded very well, so oould be picking up interferance from somewhere. Is there flourescant lights in the room? they can tend to cause problems as well.
Whatever it is- hope you get it sorted mate.
