I'll be buying some studio monitors soon, but they'll be powered and i dont like the idea of having the volume controlls round the back.

I was looking at the Behringer Powerplay to solve this problem and the future problem of headphone monitoring in one go, any one any thoughts on it? The only reason i can see for not getting it is if it colours the sound, can anyone confirm this one way or the other? Cheers

How the powerplay going to solve your monitor volume problems... it doesnt have a line out feed.

Yeah it does. Technically for connecting more headphone amps but whatever, same thing.

The outputs on the Powerplay don't have any sort of volume control...they're simply for daisychaining multiple headphone amps. Sounds like you might find some sort of control room matrix unit more useful.

This will suit your needs for tracking with headphones, colour is not really an issue while tracking, u just want the musicians to have a reference to sing or play to. It certainly won't be useable for serious mixing or mastering. It does have a line out for daisychaining, but no volume control as stated above. Many folks on this forum have issues with Behri stuff. I have some of their stuff (that I purchased before I knew what I really needed for serious work) including the powerplay. It is a little noisy, but gets the job done. I don't buy their gear anymore for various reasons. Just remember, it won't be useful as a monitor preamp.

I agree.
It is tolerable for tracking headphones, but it is noisier than the other headphone amps I have. (Rane / Rolls).
You wont want to run anything through it that has to sound clean and acurate.
