Right now Guitar Center/Music 1-2-3 and Musicians Friend have the Behr B210D speakers on sale for $159 - $40 off normal sell price.
Sounds like a good deal, but is it? Some folks say these are underpowered, but the specs look no worse than any other low-mid-end powered speakers. Sure, I'd love to use QSCs, or JBLs, but I never see any deals on used ones that would get the price within my range.

I would be looking at speakers to be used for an acoustic duo-type act, small venues. Already have a Mackie mixer to use for EQ, etc.

Mike,
Every Behringer product I've owned has outperformed it's price point .....but......I'd give MF's BOLD statement at the end of their description serious consideration. "Made for less-demanding applications, the B210D still pumps out plenty of pop." Is your application truly "less demanding?"

10 inch woofer just doesn't do it for me.

You would have to be playing some pretty small coffee houses to use those Behri's.

That's the general consensus, I guess. Then I compare the SPL figures with Mackie Thumps (12's or 15s) and see the same dB. I'm talking acoustic guitar-type act, so no bass to speak of in the sound. I know you can't go by just wattage
I know people who use the Fishman or Line 6 L1 - both with dinky little 4" drivers and have more than enough volume for the venues I'm thinking of. If a 'coffee house' is big, (thinking like the Me & Thee in Marblehead), they have their own PA system - and their main speakers are pretty f-ing small, too!

Well the best thing is if you get them from GC, take really good care of them, then find that you don't like the performance of them - you can return them.

At this point, I have no need for them (no acoustic duo partner), just have GAS $$ sitting in Paypal. Best to wait, considering my wife's unemployment runs out in 6 weeks (is Fed extension an option any more?)

Maybe I'll just get another guitar ... :thumbs up:

You might want to consider these:

CarvinWorld.com International - Guitars, Amplifiers & Pro Audio

I have a Behri B208D which has given me years of problem-free service but if I wanted to purchase a molded cabinet powered 10, the Carvin is hard to beat for price, features, sound and reputation. Check out the back panels on each amp. I have found that the Behri power ratings are liberal (the B208D is still plenty loud for the price) and Carvin ratings are conservative. Carvin stuff is made pro and reliable; Behri appears to have their Class-D stuff together. Have fun choosing!

Yeah, that would be the sound of the suspension disintegrating as the cone separates from the frame.

But for an acoustic duo they might be fine. If you upgrade to bigger mains you can use the 10s as monitors.

This never hurts.

Wait a minute! Mike you already got over a dozen guitars.

No, I don't! I only have 9 guitars - including the bass. (plus mando, banjolin, banjo, ukulele) Hey, you sound like my wife! :spank:
