Hey all,

I have a question. First of all, soon, I plan of purchasing a low-end Behringer mixer (mainly for the pre-amps). There are two Behringer series mixers that I'm considering, MX and UB, but I've noticed the UBs generally tend to cost a bit more than their MX counterparts.

Why is this? Is this because the UB mixers are more compact? Or do they deliver better sound?

Which one would be the bettery purchase, value and quality-wise?

Thanks!

yamaha mg series blows both of those out of the water.

The UB ones have better preamps.

But seriously, you can get a Yamaha MG for very very similar money and they are different league to Behringer. I'm kicking my Behringer out now because I have an MG and a much more expensive Soundcraft, but I won't be too sorry to see it go.

Hi Phobophile
I have a UB 2442FX -PRO mixer. I would recommend you don't get a Behringer.
3 of the pre-amps have stopped working! and one channel now has no output.
I have read in other forums about the same thing happening to other users, Behringer's support is CRAP also. Get some more suggestions on better mixers, I know I will when I purchase again.
Good Luck.

The UB series is the newer of the two, with "improved" pre-amps.

But as the others stated, the Yamaha MG series offers a better product for a similar price.

I don't know about all the Behringer mixers... but, the effects on the UB1204FX-PRO are very noisy.

Yeah - when I got my UB1204 the salesman in the shop warded me off the FX version because he reckoned my even my guitar multi-fx pedal would be more useful!!

I had an MX series Behringer mixer. I had it for about 6 months and then sold it to buy a Mackie VLZ (the improvement was very significant). If you have to get a Behringer, do not get the MX series-- the preamps sound like tin cans!

Like the other guys are saying, if you want a budget mixer, get a Yamaha, they are about the same price and are better quality.

But if you are only after the preamps, why not get something like the M-Audio DMP3? I have one and it sounds "better" (to my ears) than the pres in my Mackie or my drummer's Yamaha MG series mixer.

Yo' phobofile, please, PLEASE utilize this BBS's "SEARCH" function on Behringer mixers!!!

'Nuff said!

LMAO!! That isn't entry level ... those things cost serious money!!

I noticed they weren't much more expensive then what i paid for my behringer mixer and have heard good things. Skip the behringer.
