I just bought an ECM8000 measurement mic because I wanted to test it out for use as a cheapie drum overhead and for acoustic guitars. I am happy with the results as far as sound reproduction goes, but there is a problem: I get these random pops coming through the signal chain from somewhere, and I have not had this problem before. I think it is because of the mic.
Question: I have heard that mics like the one I am using need to "settle". This takes only a few minutes. Could it be that my mic hasn't fully "settled" and I am beginning to use it? Or, if not that, what sort of problem might there be with my mic?
I have attached two audio maps from Guitar Tracks so you can see the "pop"--it really looks to be something electronic, as I've never seen an acoustic waveform like that.
Thanks.
