Enchilada

Strange person.
I was thinking of buying a Behringer Tube composer T1952. I've read that they are more or less a MDX2600 with a tube after everything else.
I have a Tube Ultragain MIC200 preamp, so if I used that in the effect send would it have the similar effect as using a T1952?

If I decided to go via this path, would I be better getting the MDX2600 or another solid state comp?

Any thoughts at all will be appreciated, even b-bashing but please don't reccommend me a RNC or a VTB-1, both those compressors are over AUD$400, the MDX2600 is only $200 which is in my budget.

Cheers,
Ench

Anything except Behringer onboard stuff is good enough. Behringer compressors and preamps are probably the worst in its product lines. get the Alesis 3630..it's a better comp and a better deal.

Can't find anywhere that sells the alesis 3630 in Australia, any other ideas?

depending on your software you could get a plugin, there are some decent compressors for software i have even seen a few free ones that were pretty nice

I've been using software compression both on my D16 and as a VST plugin and its OK but I don't think it comes close to a hradware compressor. From what I've read its always better to have a hardware compressor

I use DBX their hard to beat for the price and work better then the Behringer or Alesis in my opinon, I've owned both A&B before and sold them on ebay and bought the DBX and been happy ever since.
