Reluctant Commander
I have a Behringer rack mount fx box that puked out on me. Wondering where you guys have sent your Behringer gear for repairs........

hopefully, someplace that has a lot of parts so I dont have to wait 3 or 4 months to get it fixed, and you know they fixed it correctly....?? someplace you trust.....

The thing is out of warranty, and the retailer is in Canada so returning it to the place I bought it is not an option. Yes, it is probably cheaper to buy a new one, but the only seller who has any left is the place in Canada, and they wont ship to the USA. (Dont ask me how I got it here in the first place! Let's just say getting another one from the same place is no longer an option, either!)

Any quick tips are appreciated. Behringer has a list on their web site, but choosing blindly from those lists is a crap shoot in it's own way. My experience with those lists has been that when I actually call the place to get an RA number, they usually say something to the effect of, "Geeee whiz, fella, we haven't worked on THAT stuff for years. Where'd you say you got it??" My luck with those kinds of repairs has been 50/50.....half of them have kept on ticking after the repair, the other half broke again a year or two later.....

So if you have had any really good luck with a specific repair center, specifically with Behringer equipment, that's what I'd like to hear about!

Thanks kindly, folks! - SC

Which unit are you talking about? And what went wrong with it?

In all seriousness, it is probably not worth repairing. You might take a look at eBay or other places that sell used gear and try to pick one up that way.

Edison EX-1

When I switch it in, the left channel shoots way up in level, over 0......and the right channel drops way down in level. I know it's the unit because I patch in an identical unit that is new and switch it in and the levels stay the same and remain balanced dead center.

now a days anything gear you paid for under $400 is not worth repairing. the bill is enough to buy it used or something similar.

Could be something as simple as a dirty trim pot. My Peavey mixer used to drive me nuts with the right output being about 3dB lower than the right. Dirty trim pot in the automation board. Adjusted the pots a bit and it cleaned right up....

My research has shown that you are probably right.......I'm afraid to buy a used one, since this one is used. There is only one for sale in the whole world, on ebay, and it is a floor demo model. I aint gonna touch it.

I figured out last night that the one that works perfectly is the new one that was imported from Canada. The one that is hosed is the used one I bought from Music-Go-Round for $29.

Cheap tuition, I suppose......

Thanks fer yer time, people.... SC

Keep your eye on eBay. I bought a new Edison EX-1 off Ebay about 9 months ago. There was a dealer getting rid of old stock that was sitting on the shelf. I paid $75 for it.

Well, I bought this Edison EX1 used from Music-Go-Round for $29 bucks.

Yesterday, after the dealer's tech guy said he cant fix it without a schematic, I casually walked into Music-Go-Round carrying the EX1. I acted ignorant, and the guy said, "I'm sorry but we are only going to be able to give you $20 bucks for it."

SOLD!

I only lost $9 bucks on the deal. Cut my losses......

Sheesh. Just reread this. My Mackie mixer. My Peavey mixer has been a total peach.... :)
