Just to be factual:
The MX 8000 preamps provide up to 50 dB of gain, and a maximum output of +22 dBu.
I haven't owned the MX 8000, but I have directly compared the ULN preamps in another unit with very well respected units, and I also own a Macckie with the VLZ preamps.
I found the Behringer to be slightly more natural sounding than the Mackie, and had no noticeable noise problems.
