I just received a Behringer ECM8000 based on a few favorable reviews. I am very surprised with the sound quality I obtained through it recording acoustic guitars (steel and nylon). Low noise, extremely crisp sound.

I have a Rode M3, two SP B1s, CADs, AT 20xxs etc. And this Behringer easily holds its own and seems much less finicky in regards to placement (evidently the omni pattern has something to do with it). For $50 it is a great deal.

If I don't sound technical regarding mics, it is because I am not technical. I just go with what sounds good. My preference is for large condenser mics, though I like the results I get from the Rode. But given the sound quality of the ECM8000 and the ease of placement, I plan on purchasing a few more.

The Behringer ECM8000's good qualities are common knowledge around here. I wouldn't say it's a low-noise mic though. Nor would I say it's crisp. I'd say it's natural-sounding with an acceptable self-noise for all but very quiet sources.

Great mic for the price. In fact....great mic at twice the price.

It's a measurement microphone. You use it to take test plots of a room using a testing software like Room EQ Wizard or Fuzzmeasure.

As said, it is a measurement mic, but it also has a pretty ruler flat response. The noise level isn't an issue on loud sources, so it works great for things like drum overheads. Harvey gave it a thumbs up a couple years ago.
