hey everyone,

Alright in a nutshell: i bought a behringer denoiser (SNR 2000) to get rid of some o the 60 cycle hum thats coming through my signal chain, I have it hooked up correctly (mic from amp into the input of channel 1, then the output of channel 1 into my interface.) but it does not remove any of the sound.

I've tried everything it seems like, moving every knob, changing channels, routing channel 1 into channel 2, i can't get that noise floor out.

can anyone help?

Thanks y'all,
Tyler

If you are getting 60 cycle hum then something is very wrong. You most likely have a bad ground or a ground loop. Those Behringer units use a low-pass filter and are only good for taking away hiss not low end hum.

I apologize for the wrong terminology, I'm trying to get the strat singlecoil noise out like a noise gate.

ahhhh, bummer. oh well thanks ocnor for the information!

Using the Behringer De-Noiser

I have a De-Noiser, too.

If you look at the manual, you will see that it does two things - it reduces hiss and high-frequency noise (down to 800 Hz) via a sophisticated high-pass filter, and it reduces low-level low-frequency noise by expanding it downward and/or by using a noise gate.

Ocnor is wrong. The De-Noiser will lower the audibility of low-frequency noise. It was not designed to filter hum, specifically, but judicious use of the downward expander and the noise gate should eliminate most or all of the audible hum below the threshhold of hearing.

Of course, you should also find the source of the hum and eliminate it.

You need to read the manual. If you don't have it, google < BEHRINGER DENOISER MANUAL > and get it from Behringer (a free PDF file).

When all else fails, read the directions. When in doubt, follow the directions.
