Hey, does anyone have any experience using these? They come in pairs...

A friend that runs a local music store says they are really good for in-expensive mics I can get a pair for 45 bucks. The only mic I own is an SM 58 and I use it for any situation that calls for a mic including vox.

I thought I might pick these up for recording my Acoustic guitar and I (very occasionally lol ) play a cheap mandolin my wife bought me. I also have a project coming up in which I will need to record a piano.

I don't have allot of extra cash to put into mics at the moment, are these mics a decent choice for some of the instances I mentioned for the bucks?

These are very cheap mics. I bought a pair to learn how to do stereo recording. They sound very muted to me. As if the highs are rolled off. I would not buy them again but I learned a lot using them. go buy yourself some naiant mics.

Hi David,
yes indeed, these are very cheap mics, and you'd be hard pushed to find similar design mics for the price point you have mentioned.
I have had great results with mine as drum overheads (as long as the 3 position switch is on a 'suitable' setting), and stereo recording of acoustic instruments.
Very sensitive and clean sounding for the money....(I have found them to be a little 'brittle' sounding at times, but mic-placement repaired that most of the time.)
If this is what you can afford, you'll find that with good placement and general gain set-up, these mics are very reasonable.....and remember David, you could spend 4 times more on a pair of similar 'type' condensors, and end up with a shit sound.....it's all up to you and how you go about setting them up!!
Let us know how you go.
Cheers.
Spit.

I prefer the C2s midrange and transparency over the MXL 603 and JM 27. They're actually very nice sounding mics with a flat response. There was an interesting thread about them on Prodigy and even the topic initiator acknowledged that they sounded decent right out of the box, which is why I decided to purchase a pair. My only criticism is that they can be a tad noisy. One of the few Behringer products I own.

Agreed, they are pretty decent. I thought they pick up detail fairly well but were a tad bright. didn't really find the top end rolled off as my cymbals have plenty of sparkle. I'm still learnign to record though but I think these will continue to be of use to me once i mic every part of the kit just to capture the cymbals... I think you could do a lot worse so the word "Decent" is good in this case.

ive had a pair which ive used as overheads for a while. I find they do the job, but after using them for two drum recordings i have noticed they have no low end, and the highs are not very natural.
To summarise, they will do but i would reccomending going to the next stage up

I don't have them, but I'd venture to guess that at your level of recording experience (and mine) 95+ percent of the quality of the final recording will be determined by factors extraneous to the mic used (in particular - room acoustics, mic placement, and artist performance.) So for the price, which includes a stereo bar, definitely go for it. You can probably sell them for the same price if you upgrade later.

Thanx everyone I believe I will pick them up. I know not to expect superior quality and I'm basically going to use them for acoustic applications that will not be the focal point of my songs anyway. I rarely ever even record acoustics, however I thought they would be nice to have around since they are a matching pair and very inexpensive.

You are all very helpful thanx allot!

:)

I have a pair of C-2s and for the price I was impressed. I'm not saying that they are great mikes but for $50 for a pair with a stereo bar they sounded much better than I expected. They are a bit noisy and a bit bright but I'ved used them for micing stereo acoustic guitar and for drum overheads and they did pretty well.

I own them too... They arn't too bad for the price! I used one for a top snare mic recently and got FANTASIC results, I was suprised by them for sure! Go for it man! Even if you don't use them a whole lot, they are great for when you just want something to throw around, and not to trash your more expencive mics you WILL own one day! :P

I've also used them on snare and with brushes, where they really shine.

bright? I would have said the complete opposite. Maybe mine are defective. They sound almost dead. No high end whatsoever. I didnt get rid of them though As I am sure they will have a use eventually. I do like the Naiant mics a lot more though.
