Hey guys,

The bass player in my band has been looking at one of these heads, and or the head + 4X10 combo. At first glance it looks like a pretty good deal as we both gave the amp a bit of a work out at one of the local music stores, but I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with with one of these amps/combos??

My initial thoughts were to stay away from it as I've heard some horror stories of the lack of quality/durrability, but both of us were able to dial in "our" sounds with out much trouble and the amp seemed to have enough power for small to intermediate gigs (yes / no?)

He was using a Peavy 5 string, and I had my Fender Jazz Geddy Lee sig. model

Any info or comments would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Here's a link to the details on the 4x10 combo version:

I would go with the head version and then maybe try going a little more high end on the cab. If you get the combo you will be stuck with the whole thing as is and if you are not happy with it you might have a tough time getting your money back in a resale.
Also if I recall those combos are heavy.
Being able to swap out different parts of you rig is a plus.

Yeah I hear that....

I'm running a Hartke 5000 head now with a peavey 4x12 from days gone bye...:o (I'm an electric lead player, but fill in on bass from time to time :) )

I guess 200 bucks for a 450W head isn't too bad.......he could always dump it for something better down the road, or use it as a practice rig...

By the way, What does: "Pull the Goalie" refer to with you?? (Hockey??)

Rick
