Hey all,

Im working up the cash to buy new mics ect for my studio, but one point i hit was i need a new set of Monitors, and i decided to go for Active monitors.

Anyone ever used the BEHRINGER B2030A Truth?, I aint got to much cash to throw around, so they seemed pretty well in my price range.

Thanks

I've got a pair. They'll do the job and are certainly a good value. They'll be a huge step up from computer or home stereo speakers. I'd recommend listening to a few different monitors before deciding though, some people find the high mids a little grating on these.

I know of a friend that uses them as monitors for his Hip-Hop based surround-sound studio. He has 5 of them for his surround sound setup. He did say that they were a bit bass heavy and that when he played his mixes on other stereo's the low's weren't as present.

But apart from that, he loves them. I've heard them and they do sound friggin good. Just keep in mind that they are a bit bass heavy.

Hope that helps,
Timmy J

Thanks for all that! :). I aint really got to much money to spend on monitors, around 250e, but willing to bend a little,

Anyone know any good active monitors in that price range?

I like the Truth monitors. There's settings on the back to "tune" them to your space. I had the problem with the bass too until I adjusted the frequency response on the back. Getting good results now....

Would ya recommend them, or stear me away from them?

I think they're perfectly fine for a projects studio. Provided your room is properly treated or designed.

I have an pair of these, along with a pair of Events and some Haflers. I find the Truths one of the easier sets to mix on, due to their ability to translate. Stuff I mix with them tends to sound surprizingly well on other systems. I can't necessarily say that all the time about the Events, which happened to cost me about twice as much, by the way.

Opinions on Monitors are all over the place, by the way. Everyone's ears are different, and what works with one guy might not work at all for the other guy.

depends on what you are feeding them from. They are 1/4 inch in. So whatever your out is to 1/4 TS would be the reqired cable. For instance I run mine out from the headphone jack (unorthadox I know) of my tascam into the monitors. So I use a Stereo TRS (tip, ring , sleeve) to dual TS (tip sleeve) Y (shaped like the letter Y) cable. Your set up may be two xlr to 1/4 inch cables or maybe two 1/4 inch to 1/4 inc cables (similar to a guitar cable).
Possibly RCA to 1/4 inch depends on your set -up.

I bought a pair of 'em, and they have way to much midrange for my liking (Although they make electric guitars sound great, so that is what I use to track guitars). I have since moved on to Event TR-8 XL's, and the Behringers don't even touch these in terms of sound quality. But again your best bet is to bring your favorite CD to your local retailer, and try a couple of different sets of monitors. They may be perfectly suited for you, and they do feature good compensation controls.

im going to have the next step up of these in acouple days,

I also own a pair of the Truth B2030A monitors. All my mixes turn out great with not too much hi, mid, or bass. For me these are perfect, but I also recommend you find a store that sells these and listen to them for yourself.
