Which cheap large condenser would you guys recommend? I'm on a strict budget, but I need one of these bad boys and want to hear if anyone else is as cheap as I am, and if so what are ya using?

Thanks,

Jeff

What are you planing to use it for? I have no experience with the Behringer, but I own an MK319 and a Studio Projects B1. Between those two, it would depend on the use. The 319 has a darker sound than the B1. It also has a bass roll-off and a 10dB pad. The B1 is clearer and more neutral sounding. It has more "air". If I could only have one of these two, I would buy the studio Projects B1. It's cheaper too.

Someone else will have to chime in on the Behringer.

Blessings, Terry

where can I get the studio projects B1? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Go here and click on dealer. There are lots of folks who sell them now. You can also do a search here on the forum. There are lots of posts that list folk's favorite places to get them.

you might wanna look at the behringer B2.. its just a rode nt2
you can get them 125-140 on ebay these days...
if not the studio projects B1 is a good sounding mic for $80-90

the Studio Projects one looks like the route I'll be going, and I found that Sweetwater has them for like $80, which is a really good deal.

Good choice IMO. You'll use that mic for years to come.

Yeah, I am going to go with the Studio Projects B1, then later a C1 if I like the B1.

I think it sounds like a good way to go.

Polaris, B-1 is a great workhorse mic for instruments and some vocals, and at its price point, it's a no brainer. The C-1 is harder to assess because the price point is higher and there's quite a bit of hype involved. I would suggest B-1 initially (good choice), and consider Marshall MXL V67B for a main vocal mic. When you decide to upgrade, consider C-3 as a more versatile option than C-1, or Rode NTK, just 'cause it sounds sooo good.-Richie

Richard,

Why would you suggest the V67B over the C1? Do you own both of them? Just wondering.

Thanks, Terry

I'd back that up. The Marshall MXL V67B is a suprisingly nice mic. If I had to choose between an AKG C3000 and an MXL V67B, the Marshall would be up.
