I currently own a Yamaha MX20 console. I have had it for about a year and love it. But I am expanding my home studio and running out of room on the board. I recently added an Emu-1820M, so the 4 sub-groups are not enough anymore.
I am looking at either the Yamaha MG24 or the Behringer 3282. I am looking for an 8 bus mixer but don't want to pay high end prices. The Behringer offers all the busses and Aux sends that I need, but a decrease in circuitry quality and preamp quality. The Yamaha boards have great preamps, and awesome circuitry quality with no noise. But the Yamaha board only has 4 sub-groups and 6 aux sends. The Behringer has an external power supply, so I don't think any noise would get introduced into the signal from that.
I use my board for recording and powering a PA setup for my practice space.
My requirements are 8 subgroups for the 8 inputs on my soundcard. At least 3 Aux sends for my power amps, and at least 24 channels including 2 stereo channels. I'm trying to find a board that will allow me to keep my live and recording setups connected simultaneously so I won't have to repatch all the time.
I'm open to other mixer suggestions that are within my price range ie 700-1200.

Get a used MX9000. I have one and it has great routing. 24 inputs with 24 tape returns on mix be which can be swich to the faders with one button. 8 sub groups.
