Beginning the search for foot pedals!

hey,

i have no idea where to start my journey but here.

I'm a bassist, and i'm looking for synth foot pedals so i can run background figures while I play a bass line (and sing).

Does anyone have ones they like/dislike? Any suggestions for brands? I'm going to check out Music123 and Korg (the only keyboard company i know), but of course, that's very little selection.

All ye masters, please aid me on my quest!

the cheapest foot pedal i could find was the Studio Logic Mp-117 ($399 - Music123.com).

This appears to be a midi controller, so I assume I need a keyboard or synth module or something... I don't need trumpet sounds, or vibraphone sounds, maybe just some basic pads, warm, square, ORCESTRAL!!!!!!

Err, but I would never spend like $500+ for midi... I could just use my midi-in on my sound card if that'd work... but i dont want to drag my computer to gigs! AHH

There is a Roland that's roughly $1.5k and I think it generates its own sound, but i'm not sure... so... that's out of the question, unless a midi+footpedal is that much...
