Howdy folks.
I'm brand new to the home recording game, but I've played around in simple studios in the past... My question is about how all the equipment links up.
For now I reckon an 8pre is the way to go because of it's 8 mic channels / preamps for recording drums.
So... The mics -> 8pre -> pc (via firewire) -> Cubase
What do I need get the monitors working? Can I send a stereo mix back from the pc to the 8pre (via firewire I guess) and use it's main outs? Will this cause problems when trying to playback and record at the same time?
Do I need to get a pci soundcard for the monitors? If so, what are the good ones for this purpose? I gather that the standard creative / gaming cards aren't idea ideal.
Or should I look a getting something a bit better than the 8pre that does handle the return mix so that I don't need a soundcard?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give... Sorry if it's all a bit newbish.
Cheers!
