Hi, I have just started using Cubase SX on my Powerbook G4. Im plugging my instruments (Roland synth) into a small Behringer pre-amp/mixer and then running that into the line in on my computer. When i press record on Cubase and play an instrument, Cubase doesnt seem to record what is being played thru the line in and instead the mic on the computer records the sound around the room (traffic, coughing etc). How can I deactivate the Mac mic or make Cubase record what is coming thru the line in instead of what the computer's mic is picking up.

Thanks,

Nuna.

Beginner Problem

Sounds like a problem with your soundcard settings. Could be a wrong box checked or something. Try going into the "options" menu on your PC's sound card, going to "recording", and muting the mic, and making sure that "line in" is checked...I experienced a similar situation when I first started home recording and the above method rectified it.

Are you up in Nunavut? Cool!!! (literally...hahaha):))

cubase problems

Sounds to me like you need to purchase a soundcard dedicated to cubase alone.Not only will this solve the "background noise", but the quality will be much better.
Cheers;
