beginner lap steel

so not sure if this is the place to post this but i thought id give it a go.
santa bought me a lap steel guitar and i was wondering if anyone here knows any good websites or whatever that actually teach you how to play the damn thing. i can play guitar/bass and ive been able to figure out a few things and play along with some records but id appreciate some expert advice. for starters the ammount of tunnings is totally confusing me.

so if anyone knows where i should start, please let me know!

also, if anyone knows where to get good tabs for lap steel that would be useful too. most of the tabs ive found online just have the chords.

Look for Dobro stuff too- the tunings and playing are similar (for 6 string, anyway.)

I suggest you start with open G tuning or other open chord tuning for awhile, and don't worry about alternate tunings until you're comfortable playing.
