Hello Everyone,
My name is Drew and I really want to get into home recording. I play folk/blues music on acoustic guitar. I play harmonica and sing as well and I really want to make some studio quality recordings so I can start promoting my music. I was wondering what a good setup would be for me to start recording songs at my house. I've talked to a few people and I was thinking about buying pro tools m-powered 8 with the profire 2626 audio interface. I'll want to record drums in the future so I'll want eight preamps. Is this a good setup? I'm looking for the highest quality I can get within a reasonable price range. Also, I've got a macbook that I'll be using (will I need a stronger computer?)
Any information about getting setup will be really helpful because I barley have any knowledge about home recording or any of the equipment.
Thanks so much for the help,

-Drew

Excellent choice.
You'll need a couple of condenser mics to get started. One large and one small.
A pair of decent monitors will be necessary when it comes to mixing.
Do that and you're set.

I wish you every success. You face an uphill battle though. This aspiration: "studio quality recordings" is going to be difficult to achieve given this: "I barely have any knowledge about home recording or any of the equipment".

Macbook should be fine.

Profire interface should be fine.

You need a whole mess of other stuff: mikes, monitors and so on.

Your main task is now to learn as much as you can about the process.
