Hi gang...

So a couple of years ago at Swannanoa, I made friends with a nice guy and good folk singer named Mark Easley. I got to know him because Pete Huttlinger and I accompanied him on his open mic song; he did John Denver's Back Home Again. (Pete was in Denver's band from 1994 till Denver's death in 1997). Anyway, Mark did a homerec of the piece by himself; two guitars, two vox, and MIDI drums, bass, strings, and steel guitar.

Here it is:

So, I asked him to send me his vox tracks, guitar tracks, and a sync track. I laid down human drums, bass, Rhodes, 4 vocal harmonies, and I spruced up his steel part, which sounded really cool to begin with.

Here's the result:

You like?

Nice work.. everything gels.. it sounds good.

I don't really know if it's appropriate for the style, but what about bringing up the drums a smalllllll tad?

I pulled them down a smidge from my first mix; my instinct said the same thing as yours; but they sounded overbearing in the end. Didn't pass the car test. :)
