Hey guys. My friend just gave me an old guitar his dad had. It's probably worthless, but it has a sweet ass body to it. It's called a BeeTone. I couldn't really find anything searching google, so I'm just wondering if any of you know anything about it. It's about 40 years old.

Yes sir I do. It's very stratish. The only marking on it are the "BeeTone" sticker and on the back it says "Japan." It's from either the late 50's or early 60's because he said his dad didn't play past '65.

Here are some pics, I think it has a beautiful shape, I love the gaurd and the curving top.

crazy lookin guitar. the fingerboard looks really wide.........or is that just an optical illusionary fig nuten of my imagination?

cool guitar.

You might try a search of the Electra archives, they imported thousands of giutars from Japan in the late 50s on through the early 70s. In the pic, there is something about the pickup that looks out of date, most from that era were chrome plated, do you know if it is original or if it has been replaced? The pickguard looks somewhat like some I have seen on Tiesco guitars from the early 60s but thats not a Tiesco pup. Whether or not you ever find out much about it's origin, you have a good conversation piece, hang on to it. The headstock is pretty inovative for that era.

Well, the guitar is REALLY small, it's about 38 inches long. As far as I know, nothing was replaced, because his dad was played in like his 7th grade, and never got too serious so I doubt it was replaced, after he stopped in 8th grade, the guitar never saw the light of day again until about a week ago. I'm definatly going to keep it though, it sure is pretty :). Thanks for the help though guys.
