Hi guys,

I've been out of home recording for nearly 7 years now, I'm trying to get back into it, but it feels like everything is so different. I'm a singer songwriter, that's all I really am looking to do, for the longest time I was looking at the Indamixx netbook but the reviews on here have swayed me. The indamixx was about what I was looking to spend.

Is there a machine out there that would be better for recording and acoustic guitar, vocals, and perhaps adding some frills digitally?

It really is funny how far behind you get when it's been 7 years.

I would say look at companies that sell machines dedicated for music recording. They should be able to guide you to an interface that has been tested on their hardware and beyond that, it is up to you to choose the software package. ADK computers are a good place if you are stateside..

Hi Coletrane,
Welcome back ! It must be like a mum returning to work having been off for a few years to have three kids and out of the loop. But it can be surprizing how quickly you readjust. I would say you've got some reading to do and this is probably the best place to start. If you go back 6 months, maybe four, you'll learn everything you need to know and you'll come across lots of conflicting views and ideas that should actually provide some balance that hopefully will enable you to get more of a handle on which direction you need to go and with what.

Thanks alot! After doing some reading, I'm starting to lean more towards an Mbox. I plan on stripping my laptop of all of it's unnecessary software, and just using it as a dedicated Windows recording machine along with the MBox. I appreciate the helpful input and the speedy responses!
