Dunno if itll be anyones cup of tea...meant to be Georgio Moroder meets the Nazis

Hi Keith,

Congratulations on your new baby!

You still have the knack running those synths, lots of cool sounds. The mix actually sounds pretty good to me.

Really pumpin at the end, good work.

Pete

Heavens to Kraftwerk. Not what I normally listen to but it's done really well. What's the voice over thing?

Cheers Pete...when we were packing to come here last June my luggage was two synths, a keyboard, and three drum machines...my wife was impressed ;)

Thanks man...being limited in choices helps you get stuck in

The voice over bit is just a sample of some preacher...preaching I guess :D

Yeah wheres everyone...now Ive got a bit of free time and a vrm box to help me listen to stuff

Been out of here way too long bro!

Not my genre, but I'm always more than a little curious about how people get synths and keyboards to make actual music. All mine do is sit here and look at me, and they make occasional drum noises. I shoulda learned to play the piano!

This sounds good though, the kick thumps really nice. Good pacing and structure, keeps the energy up and the occasional breaks are a nice touch.

Thanks...it started with an idea I had for a video of marching nazis throwing bouquets of flowers into the crowds...i dont know if that translates into the tune ;)

If you dont play piano then sequence...synths are at their best sequenced...who needs another Rick Wakeman!

That's interesting cuz the image I had was of flowers throwing Nazis to the crowds. Muscularly floral.

I'm still trying to figure out how sequencing fits into mixes with played instruments. I want to see if I can get them playing nicely together. (There's a metronome shaker in a tune I've posted here recently - I wanted something mechanically regular against all the playing.) Flipping that approach would be to do something like sing over a tune that was completely sequenced otherwise. For example, would you ever consider replacing that synth voice in your tune with a real vocal? (I got this uncomfortable feeling you're going to tell me that part was actually sung...)

Fix the mix?? what are you going to fix????? Nah man, it's good to go.

Okay one thing to look at is the reverb on the vox. I think you could do something different. Like maybe a pre-delay. As is, it doesn't feel too wet (I think the level is right) but too thick, maybe. Hard to describe. Maybe use more delay than reverb. I guess I want to hear some space in between repeats. Eh, don't listen to me.... :{

I think my kid would love this stuff. :)

I can hear the Moroder motor running.
In some parts it reminded me of the KLF though missing their vocal.
Woo OOh Ancients of Mittuns.

Ive had singing and some live instruments with sequenced synths, Ableton keeps it tight(ish)

The SS synth voice is just one sample through a vocoder and distortion, the oooo's are me pitched up and a synth note...i like to look for samples, but if I cant find them I just record myself...big cheat :D

This has a guitar sequenced with the synths...not so noticeable...

Great advice on the reverb...i used a church IR...but I never got the levels perfect

The mix is a headphone mix with a vrm box...my dt770's have a huge bass hump and a deep cut around 5k...so until I hear it on monitors I wasnt sure, I know its in the ballpark

Thanks for listening Dave :)

Jesus...KC!!

Good to see you man. I swear you've moved more times since you joined this forum than I have in my entire life.

This sounds good so far as I can tell. It seems maybe less layered and more straightforward than what I remember of your prior tunes, but still very well put together. My son liked it when he heard it earlier this evening.

I actually really like the type of verb you used on the sample, but I just think it was applied a little too heavily. Try dialing it back a hair and see what that does for you.

Keith! Yo, man.. This sounds great. Listening to it through my Grados, it seems a (hair) bit bright generally, but other than that, it's super tight. I love your stuff. Listened to the whole thing and wanted more. :)

Happy trails, and congratulations on your new daughter!
