Resident moody teenager
Sorry about the wide pics - didn't realise how big they were until they'd uploaded.
Anyway, Christmas has been and gone and Santa has left me begging for a bit of an overhaul!
Basically I want to improve my mix position. I'm currently stuck up in the corner of my bedroom with my monitors placed behind me (found it to be the best place after days of experimenting
), and when I'm doing the final touches to a mix I prop pillows up on the walls where the monitors are firing towards.
You can't even see the monitors in this pic, and its fairly obvious I'm cramped up over there...
This is the shape and rough dimensions of my bedroom. It could be bigger and its quite an awkward shape but it'll do
...
A few bits I missed off that model - the 5m wall isn't actually straight. It steps into the room by a foot around 1/3rd of the length along from the left (chimney breast). The other side of the chimney has been filled in with a stupidly small (1 foot deep) cupboard, but this has to stay. The fireplace itself has been bricked up. There's also a window along the wall with the sloped ceiling.
So at the moment the layout kinda looks like this...
My current plan is to move the bed from the corner so its coming out into room from the middle of the 5m wall. I've also got a wardrobe at the end of my bed which I plan to move next to my desk. That then frees up an area which I can (hopefully) turn into a semi-decent mix position.
Problems I face...
Anyone have any suggestions for... Layout? Monitors? Treatment?
I hope to make some DIY panels with rockwool / dense fibreglass. Any suggestions for these?
Thanks!

Problems I face...
- Its my bedroom - I have to find room for my existing bed, wardrobe, bookcases, etc
- As you can see in the first pic, I have a small aquarium which would be fairly difficult to move, so that desk has to stay there
- Its an old house and so I have some limitations; I can't hang anything on the ceiling. I also have the sloping wall (which I don't think I would be able to hang anything from either). The only wall which I could hang stuff on would be the 3.3m wall - other than that, everything has to be free standing.
- My budget only stretches to around £600 and I would like that to include 1 'good' pair or 2 'okayish' pairs of monitors (what would you suggest?). The parents will buy furniture (which will probably just be a big ikea desk anyway), but speaker stands, racks (only really need one 8U one as I stay mainly ITB) and acoustic treatment have to come out of my pocket.
