Okay guys,

This is a whale of a deal - only reason I'm selling is that I need something with less overall volume, and the Suhr Badger 18 coming my way should fill that need.

This is a beautifully built Marshall 18-watt clone (with normal and tremolo channels) housed in a custom-built Jeff Swanson cabinet done in green tolex. The amp boasts Sozo caps, upgraded speaker wire from amp to speaker as well as a very sweet Weber British series 1230-55 speaker. It doesn't stop there - the amp comes with serious glass - two RCA blackplate EL-84's (yep, the long plate versions) and two Tesla preamp tubes (not new production - these are NOS old Tesla plant production valves...SWEET tubes) for V1 and V3. The EZ-81 rectifier is a Mullard valve as well. Everything about this amp screams class, and I wish I could keep it, but I have WAY too much gear, and the Badger is going to be "the" gigging guitar amp in the house.

The amp even comes with a custom Le Cover padded amp cover - again, just class from the word go. Take a look at the pictures below as well - note: the G12H30 in the pictures is not what the amp has now...the Weber speaker was the one that just "worked" for me after trying several others.

Bottom line is that this is a phenomenal deal for an amp with all available classic 18-watt circuit upgrades housed in a very expensive, boutiquely-built cabinet by a well-known builder. Prior to selling, I am taking the amp to a recommended 18-watt amp tech for a thorough "going-over" of all the bits and pieces to ensure everything is perfect about the amp. You won't be disappointed with this one at all. Given the trip to the tech, the amp will be available on or about 06 May for delivery.

One important note - this amplifier is LOUD. I thought the classic 18-watt would be perfect for garage practice and contemporary Christian rock, but it simply is too much amp for what I need. Please take this into consideration with regard to what you are looking for in an amplifier. This amp is PERFECT for shows at clubs and bars...even with the most ham-handed drummer. It WILL cut through the mix with just mind-blowing tone.

I am looking to clear $1050 on this amplifier...before shipping and "fees". Price is firm. This is a phenomenal price for this amp and cabinet (just take a look at 18-watt boutique kit prices unassembled), not counting the tube upgrades, the speaker upgrade, the quality of the cabinet, the amp cover, etc. This is easily 17-1800$ worth of amplifier setup for a steal. Obviously, I would prefer a local sale (and this is going up on Craigslist as well), but I will ship the amp for actual shipping, packaging and insurance to your door.

Please check out swansoncabinets.com - this is a custom built, slightly oversized partial open back cabinet - very, very nice indeed.

Enough talking - on to the pictures:

Very nice! I can imagine what a Gretsch (a real one) would sound like through that. I wish I had the $$$...someone's going to get a deal. ;)

Thanks!

Appreciate the plug, Strumbone - and you're correct, this is a sweet deal here. Wish it would have worked out for what I need!

Folks, this is back from the tech with a clean and complete bill of health. I didn't even know that a "tremolo defeat" switch was installed on the bottom of the amp chassis for the purpose of defeating the tremolo on that channel. In this way you can jumper the "normal" channel and the "tremolo" channel together if you need even more gain without the tremolo engaged. Just a note - the tremolo sounds SWEET, by the way.

Cheers,
Jay

Notice

Note to everyone (in the effort of not disappointing anyone) - I am strongly considering keeping this amplifier...It just sounds amazing, and it might be wise to have a backup to the Suhr.

I'm not completely decided one way or another, but it's going to be hard to let this one go. If I definitely decide to keep it, I'll close the thread. For now it's still "tentatively" on the market.

Still on the market for now...

Still on the market for now....I'm not going to budge on price, though, given that I would just as well keep it.

all pm's responded to....on the market with price change.

For some reason, I've having a time editing the first post. I've gone back and forth on keeping/listing this amp - apologize for that. I relisted it locally on Craigslist after finally deciding that I really can't have an extra amp lying around unused....tough decision given how gorgeous this amp really is both aesthetically and sonically.

The price is for the relisting, however, is $1100 cleared after shipping, etc. Doing the math, that actually comes to about $400 for the actually amplifier once the custom cabinet, custom cover, speaker, tubes, etc. are thrown into the mix. Tubes that come with the amp will be the RCA blackplates and JJ's/Groove's in V1 and V3 now. I'm keeping the Tesla's. The rectifier will remain a Mullard as well, so the glass is still very nice on the rig.

Interest already ramping up locally, so jump on this if you're interested.

Again - sorry for the back-and-forth....but this is on the market for now - price is $1100 before other costs.

Ttt

Bump for a beautiful amp/combo at a phenomenal price.

Definitely a sign....

of the financial times...this should be long gone.

Jay

Still...

available - some tire-kickers, but nothing definite.

Man, I wish I had the cash, I'd take this in a heartbeat. Stupid recession!

Thanks...

For the bump...yeah, I agree...this financial downturn has hit everyone pretty hard.

I appreciate the sentiments...it is such a beautiful piece of kit. Wish it would have worked for what I needed, but eventually it will make someone very happy.

Cheers,
Jay

Okay...

Starting to get motivated to sell now...price drop to $1050. Phenomenal price for this amp and custom cabinet.

Another price drop...

Let's make it $1025 plus actual shipping....really want to move this, folks.
