Is there any signal/audio interference while using having a battery back up for a recording computer or hard drive ?

Seems that I read a thread about this but can't find it now and to my memory I recall that there was some noise/clicking etc while batteries are bring charged.

And can anyone offer a good make and model if this can be used.

Thanks

Ya up here in New Hampshire we loose power (especially in the winter) about once a week and I just don't want to be working on a recording session and loose it due to a power outage I'll need a 5 to 6 mins. to shut down and save if this happens.
The unit you show looks good but do you know if there will be any audible noise in any recordings if it is used?

If it switches over to battery power while you're recording, there's a very good chance you'll hear it. The acoustic noise alone (loud hum) will wreck a recording if it's in the same room as the mics. It will, however, save you from having to rerecord the first part of the track. It will also save you from hard drive corruption and a potentially lengthy repair process.... :)

Actually, I use a Geek Squad but it's about the same.

As far as the noise, I've had this one hooked up for about 2 years and a Belkin before that for about 6 years and have never heard any noise, clicks or pops.

Most of em have some sort of power conditioning as well.

I run pretty much all my recording gear thru this thing and it's saved my bacon twice, so far, cuz of power bumps or loss. One of those times while I was recording and the other during editing.

There are quite a few out there and can get kind of expensive so make sure ya do some good research in and make sure the one you get will handle your loads well enough.

Hope it helps man. ;)

And just read DgatDudes post and while there was no click or pop on mine when I was recording, that doesn't mean it won't happen. Maybe I'm just a lucky bastid. :D

I use a couple APC units and have never had any type of interference
with anything that has been plugged into them. Almost every item in
the studio goes through one. I'd get a good sized so you can plug
your whole chain into it.

Alright.... now do yours have a hum that generates from the units acoustically into the room ?

I've got the APC also and it doesn't hum, but it will beep if it is running on the battery.

Most UPS's have signal conditioners, so the AC going to your computer is cleaner than plugging straight into the wall outlet.
