Does anyone know of any good Bass VSTI out there. I was told about one on another forum a while back, it was expensive but I forgot the name of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

drum and bass rig from steinberg is the only one i know of

Not to hijack this thread, but what does a drum and bass vsti do?

Hardcore Bass XP by East West Samples - uses real sampled bass, loads of different models and just about every noise you can imagine (including harmonics, sliding to and from and fret noises). Pretty massive sample library worth checking out.

I have gotten many suggestions from this and other forums, That Hardcore Bass by Eastwest looks very interesting. Has anyone else had experience with this

Trilogy.

Depends on exactly what you want it to do. Theres Groove Agent and Virtual Bassist from Steinberg, but I'm not a fan of them.

"Broomstick Bass" is another you could look into. Don't remember if this is any good though. I don't think it's as sampled as like the Hardcore bass stuff, but more varied in types of sounds. Like they'll have an Acoustic Upright, electric, the broomstick bass, and synth bass. All with a few variations. It's like a Gig or so for all of the different sounds as compared to like 3-4 gigs for Hardcore Bass.

If you need more than just Bass VSTi, something like Colossus could be a good investment, then you get some bass samples from hardcore and a bunch of everything else you can think of. It's like the bag of all tricks VSTi. Froogle it.... http://voisales.com/items/music~audio-software/eastwest-sounds/ql-colossus-detail.htm here's one for less than $400, I thought it use to be $1,000. That's just a little more than twice the price of Hardcore, and you get 9 times as many samples.

Broomstick Bass has very nice sounding basses but I've abandoned it because only 2 or 3 were meant for pop/rock music and also the samples lacked sustain, which was critical for my needs and couldn't find a way to extend them without smacking the sound.

I'll be checking out this Hardcore Bass VST, thanks for the insight!

On the cheap, I strongly suggest checking out Yellow Tools Independence Free. The included basses are very, very good and include a bunch of slides. Also included is a very cool acoustic "Mexican" bass. It also includes amp and mic modeling and a bunch of other effects. The drums are pretty good as well.

Here are a few clips from FrugalGuitarist.com using it for drums and bass:

Amp is the AXL Akita AT30 with a First Act SFA Edition Sheena CE240. The drums and bass were programmed using Yellow Tools Independence Free.

Tradition S20 recorded using the Boss GT-10.
