bass traps

I am thinking about buying, or building some corner bass traps. I have one question though. Can you put stuff in front of them and them still do there job. Because I have a corner desk in the room I want them in and a corner televison stand. Would they still work just as good being placed behind the two?

It depends on what kind of stuff. If low frequencies can pass through, then the traps will still work. But putting a large bookcase, for example, in front will probably block too much sound from getting into the traps.

What kind / brand of bass traps? Usually the manufacturer will have detailed instructions, or at least a general recommendation.

Ethan, I ordered the bass traps from foambymail. They are 12"x24" wedge traps. I was wondering whether to butt them against the ceiling and how far down to the floor to run them?

Those aren't really bass traps, so I hope you got a lot of them!

You'll need to line as many corners as you possibly can to get any real benefit.
