bass traps alternative..

instead of buying bass-traps, i m thinking to cover a part of my control room (mostly the corners) with a type of ricofon that is very absorbant at low frequencies up to 250Hz using a type of ricofon.The decay time will then be.....0.17sec @125Hz, 0.2sec @250Hz and 0.3sec for the rest of the frequencies...would that be an effective way for geting rid of standing waves and flatten the bass sound? or do i realy need bass traps?

I never heard of that material, but if it really does absorb well at bass frequencies, then putting that in the room corners is the same as using bass traps.
