i'm thinking of getting a bass processor, probably the digitech bp200, and i was wondering if any of you know how good it is, or if you know any better ones. i looked at harmony central, but i don't trust their reviews. thanks in advance

What type of music do you play?

I made the mistake of buying a bass processor, and it was 150 bucks I wish I could have back. I never use it. The only thing I rarely use is the built in tuner, but I have a handheld tuner so its mainly collecting dust.

Harmony Central provides a good range of opinions, but remember, they are opinions...

i play everything from blues to jazz to metal. the reason i was thinking of a bass processor is because i want a wide range of bass sounds, and I also use a BR-8 (the bass amp models on it aren't the best, and i *need* more than that).

on a side note, do any bass players use the br-8? i play both, and i haven't heard of any bass players that use it.

My old bass player uses the Bass POD thing and loves it. Can't comment much more on it except that I've jammed with him and it does make some interesting sounds.

I personally use an ART PhatBoy. It doesn't have a huge range of sounds, but it does have nice compression, decent effects (not very tweakable), and a fun "growl" feature (that I never use because it doesn't mix well with my style of music). When I bought it years ago, I scrutinized it and a/b'ed it next to a Hartke amp. I preferred the tone of the PhatBoy to the Hartke for recording.
