Bass Battery seems to drain too quickly

I couldn't find this question posted yet so:
I have an Ibanez SD GR bass. I love the bass, but the battery seems to run down unusually fast. My last Bass, a Fender, needed changing once a year at most. I seem to be replacing this battery once a month. Is there something wrong or are the pickups on my Ibanez just sucking a lot of batteries?
Is there anything I can do to decrease the drain on my battery? Does Leaving the bass plugged in effect the drain?

Thanks for your help and guidance.

when you're not playing, unplug the bass.

I'm guessing he knows that, if his old bass was lasting him a year, which is about what they can normally do.

Unfortunatly, unless there is something obviously wrong (a short to ground or some such), you will almost certainly have to replace the preamp. Just the way of these things, I am afraid.
