I'm very much a n00b to this stuff, so bear with me. I'm sure the first question has been covered a lot...latency issues. I know squat about them other than I sometimes have issues with it. Some of those times I can simply drag the track to the right time to match up woth the other already recorded tracks. But other times I can't drop my off-time track in the right spot....it will only drop a little before or a little after where I need it :(

My other issue is converting to MP3 and playing through Windows Media Player. When I do this, I get some kinda bad sounding compression effect. Bad as in the volume will mysteriously just jump up and down. I can play the same MP3 through MusicMatch Jukebox without this issue

I guess one more question I would have is where is a good place I can start reading up on basics of recording? Thanks!

Sounds like record delay compensation isn't set correctly. Make sure there are ASIO drivers for your card

Sounds like you have Snapping turned on

May be an autolevel setting in WMP

The REAPER chat for realtime advice, the reaper forum, or some of nicholas' EXCELLENT books http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=1374784

The ReaMix book really takes you thru a mix step by step

Click here for the REAPER chatroom, probably the best source of realtime audio information on the net, not just reaper specific

Thanks for the quick response! I turned the "snapping" off now....didn't even know what it was or thast it was on :o

I'm ignorant to sound cards, drivers, asio, etc. Someone else had said try asio so I dl'd it last night. But then from there I had no idea how to use it.

Autolevel is off on WMP.

Thanks again :)
